Resigned: Marcos' decision to step down from position

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. firmly rejected calls for his resignation amidst ongoing issues within his administration, stating during a press conference that he has no intention of stepping down. Commenting on the rhetoric, Marcos posed, "Why would I resign? It's not my nature to shy away from problems. What good would that do?"

Marcos' stance follows requests for courtesy resignations from cabinet members and heads of agencies, a move intended to "recalibrate" his administration following the 2025 midterm polls. Despite the calls for his resignation, Marcos emphasized his commitment to tackling challenges rather than stepping down.

In a survey conducted by Pulse Asia from May 6 to 9, 1,200 registered voters indicated a trust rating of 63 percent for President Rodrigo Duterte, while Marcos' rating stood at 32 percent, an increase from 29 percent in April. Marcos advised against basing decisions solely on one survey, instead urging the public to consider multiple sources of information.

"There are many other surveys. Let's not base decisions on one," Marcos reiterated. "Again, let's consider other surveys, know your sources. Imperfect information leads to imperfect decisions. The more accurate your sources, the more accurate your decisions will be." Marcos also highlighted the significance of understanding where the information originates. Despite the calls for his resignation, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. maintains his resolve to lead, stating his administration's ongoing policy-and-legislation and politics discussions are not grounds for stepping down. Marcos' administration is undergoing a recalibration, as indicated by requests for courtesy resignations from cabinet members and heads of agencies, in preparation for the 2025 midterm polls.
