Residents of Sibucao dominate the semifinals in the inaugural LBC-Liga Pinoy competition
Get ready for some high-octane basketball action as Sibuconians dominate the semifinals of the Inter-Commercial Division B in the 1st LBC-Liga Pinoy Basketball Tournament! Sibuconians' impressive 7-1 record places them at the top of the final four teams fighting for the championship.
Initially, Bacolod Kalawi shared the same winning record of 7-1 with Sibuconians, but the former rule granted Sibuconians the No. 1 position. Sibuconians' last game against Red Sea Kings on Thursday was a nail-biter, with standout player Barry Nader scoring 23 points for Red Sea Kings, but Sibuconians pulled through with a 65-60 victory.
The week before, Sibuconians outplayed Red Sea Kings as well, following a 35-point performance by Nader that Sibuconians managed to overcome and win by a touchdown, 81-69. Veteran point guard Teddy Jamahali scored 18 points for Sibuconians in this game, with teammate Tantali adding 25 for Best Player of the game honors.
Meanwhile, Friday's match saw Twitter-Marogong take the third spot with an 86-80 triumph over Promptness. Vallejo led Marogong with 30 points, while Boyce and Junaid contributed 21 and 15 points. In this game, Tantali once again had a big game for Promptness with 34 points, and Jamahali added 17.
Marogong and Promptness tied at 6-2 in the eight-team division, but Promptness's recent loss pushed them down to the fourth spot. In Division A, Jeddah Eagles kept their qualifying hopes alive with a 74-69 victory over King Fahd Armed Forces Hospital, led by Best Player Abu Zeena, Bensouzo, and Alih Kibsi's 18, 16, and 15 points respectively.
At the same time, Jeddah Friends and SGS Nobel faced off in an intense two-game series in Division A over the weekend. In the first game, Jeddah Friends won 86-79, and in the second game, they triumphed again 97-76. Palo scored 17 points for Jeddah Friends in the first game, while Ismael, Malik Ampuan, and Dipatuan were the leading scorers in the second game with 21, 17, and 14 points respectively.
