The Anti-Terrorist Commission of Magadan Oblast has issued a warning to the public regarding the sharing of photographs and videos of terrorist attack aftermaths on social media platforms such as Telegram.

According to a statement from the Magadan News on Telegram, publishing such materials can potentially reveal details about the effectiveness of a strike, defense weak points, and the exact location and damage caused. This information can be used by the enemy to plan the next massive attack.

The enemy is known to monitor media space and social networks, including popular Telegram channels in Russia. Therefore, the Commission advises against posting such content to prevent sensitive information from falling into the wrong hands.

The Russian Criminal Code states that public calls for terrorist activities, public justification of terrorism, or propaganda of terrorism are punishable by fines or imprisonment under Article 205.2. For the same actions using media or the internet, the punishment is more severe, with fines up to 1 million rubles or imprisonment for 5 to 7 years.

Moreover, the Commission warns that publishing such materials can contribute to the spread of misinformation and increase panic in society. At present, there are no publicly available or credible sources identifying popular Telegram channels in Magadan flagged by any Terrorism Commission as possible sources for spreading information about terrorist attacks.

In addition to the warning against sharing aftermath images and videos, the Commission also mentioned that a ban on holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for up to 5 years may also be imposed for individuals found guilty of such actions.

The Magadan News Telegram group focuses on life in Magadan and Magadan Oblast, providing updates on local news, events, and community happenings. The group encourages its members to adhere to the Commission's advice to ensure the safety and security of the region.
