Residents in Nizhny Novgorod region unearth a supply of allegedly unrestricted fuel

In early August 2022, a significant incident took place in the Lyskovsky district of Russia. A report was made to the police about an unauthorised connection to the main oil pipeline "Almetyevsk-Nizhny Novgorod". The exact location of the field where the hose was buried remains unspecified, but the crime scene was discovered at the 545th kilometer of the pipeline, approximately two kilometers from the village of Lapyuny.

According to the press service of the GU MVD of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region, three men were arrested on suspicion of unauthorised connection and attempted oil theft. The criminals had illegally connected to the pipeline with the intention of stealing oil belonging to AO "Transneft-Mriya".

A 98-meter hose was connected to the petroleum product pipeline, with remnants of a liquid resembling diesel fuel found at the scene. The unauthorised connection was found at the scene, with a hole about one meter deep and the hose led into a field and buried to the depth of a shovel handle.

The two other suspects are 30 and 31-year-old residents of Nizhny Novgorod with no prior law enforcement history. However, the identity of the 57-year-old suspect, who is also a resident of the Kstovsky district and has a prior conviction for a similar crime, remains undisclosed.

The court has imposed house arrest on the 57-year-old suspect and restrictions on certain actions for the other two. A criminal case has been opened against the detainees, but no further information is provided about the potential consequences or actions taken in response to the unauthorised connection.

It is important to note that such crimes can result in imprisonment of up to six years. As always, it is crucial to respect the law and avoid any illegal activities that could harm individuals or the environment.

For more detailed information about this incident, you might want to check official statements from local law enforcement or news outlets covering the incident at that time. It is also worth mentioning that a similar incident occurred in June 2024, but further details about that case are not currently available.
