In the Kherson region of Ukraine, a tragic incident occurred on the morning of August 13, 2022. The small village of Chernobaivka was the target of a Russian artillery attack, causing destruction and loss of life.

According to the Kherson Regional Military Administration, the attack resulted in the death of a 60-year-old woman named Tetiana Litvin. Her daughter, Nataliia, was present during the incident and sustained minor injuries from the blast. Tetiana's body was extracted from under the rubble of their destroyed residential house.

The attack also left at least four other villagers injured, all diagnosed with blast injuries. Two of the injured individuals are a 75-year-old woman and a 78-year-old man, who sought immediate medical attention.

The source of this information is Alexander Prokudin, Head of the Regional Military Administration, who disseminated the updates through Facebook and Telegram.

The shelling of Chernobaivka also resulted in further damage to several nearby houses, with roofs, facades, and windows destroyed.

It is important to note that the Kherson region has been heavily contested and under Russian occupation. Throughout 2022, numerous attacks against civilians and military targets have been reported, with multiple human rights abuses taking place, including unlawful detentions, torture, and civilian casualties from shelling and drone strikes.

As the situation in the region continues to unfold, our thoughts are with the affected families and the people of Chernobaivka. We hope for a swift end to the violence and a return to peace and stability for the people of Ukraine.
