Breaking News: Attack on Francisco Suárez de Monforte de Lemos Residential Building in Lugo

The Francisco Suárez de Monforte de Lemos residential building in Lugo was subjected to a violent attack early on Saturday morning. The building, which is set to house 80 unaccompanied minor migrants, was targeted with several Molotov cocktails, resulting in significant material damage, particularly to the dining area where a fire occurred, completely destroying it.

Local police authorities, including the National Police and Forensic Police, were dispatched to the scene overnight to investigate the incident and gather evidence. Forensic Police arrived at the scene on Saturday morning to analyze the perimeter and collect evidence.

The Xunta announced this week that the center will gradually receive unaccompanied minor migrants from the central government. However, the incident has sparked controversy, with various political figures expressing their opinions.

The Minister of Social Policy, Fabiola García, strongly condemned the attacks. Similarly, José Ramón Gómez Besteiro, the secretary general of PSdeG, referred to "hate speech" in relation to the incident. Ana Pontón, the national spokesperson of BNG, accused the PP and Rueda of using "vile and partisan politics" regarding the incident.

The socialist mayor of the municipality and president of the Lugo Provincial Council, José Tomé, criticized the decision to transfer migrants to the residential building without consulting the municipality beforehand.

While the investigation into the attacks is ongoing, it is important to note that accessing information about the incident is only available to registered users and subscribers. Firefighters and police officers were quickly dispatched to the scene to contain the fire and ensure the safety of the building and its future occupants.

The center where the attack occurred belongs to the social entity Prodeme. As the investigation continues, we will keep you updated on any new developments.
