Fire in Rotenburg's Heart: Resident Escapes Roof-High Flames
Fire engulfed a residential building on "Am Wasser" street in Rotenburg's city center at 5 am on Thursday. In a harrowing scene, a man fled his blazing apartment and took refuge on the roof. Fortunately, firefighters rescued him using a ladder, saving him from harm.
The fire had spread to the entire upper floor, prompting a call for aid from neighboring fire departments to prevent the inferno from spreading to other buildings in the densely populated area.

Remarkably, at least five residents managed to escape the flames. To shield them from the cold, the fire department installed a warming container, offering hot drinks and breakfast.
Unfortunately, a firefighter was injured during the operation and transported to the hospital for treatment. By 7 am, the fire was largely under control, although smoldering flames persisted in the roof truss. Consequently, the roof was opened, allowing the firefighting efforts to continue until midday.

The commercial and residential building is now deemed uninhabitable due to the risk of collapse. A total of 104 firefighters, 23 vehicles, rescue services, and the DRK all participated in the operation.
Regrettably, the fire department is unable to disclose the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage at this time.
