In a recent development, President Donald Trump has declared his intention to designate Antifa as a major terrorist organization, making the announcement on his social media platform, Truth Social.

The move has garnered support from several Republican lawmakers, including House Freedom Caucus Chair Rep. Andy Harris, R-Md., and Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wisc., who were present at a news conference with Rep. Andy Harris regarding Antifa.

Rep. Harris has been vocal about his views on Antifa, declaring that the group is a dangerous, radical organisation that thrives on chaos and violence. He has also called for an investigation into those who fund Antifa, suggesting that designating the group as a terrorist organisation will help protect communities.

The House Republican Conference meeting was attended by Rep. Andy Harris, where he shared his stance on Antifa. He was joined by Rep. Eli Crane and Rep. Andy Biggs, both of Arizona, who have also expressed support for the president's decision and shared screenshots of the president's post about Antifa on their social media platforms, thanking him for it.

In a similar vein, Rep. Rick Scott, R-Fl., and Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, have also thanked President Trump for designating Antifa as a major terrorist organisation on social media platform X.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury, specifically through its Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), would be responsible for investigating and potentially sanctioning the financing of Antifa if it were designated as a terrorist organisation. This is in line with the department's role in handling sanctions and financial investigations related to terrorism financing under presidential directives.

As the discussion continues, the White House has been contacted for comment regarding this matter. The House Freedom Caucus has also reposted Harris' statement and posts from other GOP representatives supporting the president's stance on Antifa.
