Schwarzenegger Slams Both Parties: Disappointed in Democrats and Republicans Over Immigration

Republicans and Democrats have left Schwarzenegger disillusioned

Hollywood heavyweight Arnold Schwarzenegger aired his grievances about the ongoing protests against U.S. President Donald Trump's immigration policy in Los Angeles. The CA native, who served as governor himself, voiced his displeasure with both Republicans and Democrats during an appearance on the late-night talk show "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

The former Terminator star believes that the unrest wouldn't exist if politicians did their job and addressed the issue head-on. For almost four decades, a reform of the immigration law has been under discussion, yet none have shown interest in finding a solution, he claimed.

Although Schwarzenegger refrained from one-sided criticism of Trump, he asserted that America requires workers, with numerous people south of the border eager to contribute to the labor force. With a comprehensive immigration reform and a legal framework established, Schwarzenegger emphasized that this could be a viable and desirable solution.

During his tenure as CA's governor from 2003 to 2011, Schwarzenegger also fought against climate change. Host Jimmy Kimmel joked about how happy everyone seemed during Schwarzenegger’s term, to which the star agreed, highlighting his ability to spread joy wherever he goes.

Schwarzenegger Maintains Optimism

Schwarzenegger reminisced about his early years in the USA after his immigration in 1968, during which there were riots due to the Vietnam War. The 77-year-old has faith in America and believes the country will pull through the current chaotic political climate.

Contradicting media portrayals, Schwarzenegger assured that only a small fraction of Los Angeles is affected by riots. He expressed his pride for his adopted home, considering LA to be a fantastic city. Demonstrations against Trump's immigration policy and associated deportation raids have been ongoing in the Los Angeles area for days.

Despite the mobilization of thousands of National Guard soldiers and marine infantry by the U.S. government to deployment in Los Angeles against the will of CA Governor Gavin Newsom, Schwarzenegger stands in agreement with the latter.
