Anti-ICE Protests Spark National Guard Deployment in Los Angeles
Republican leaders fiercely lash out at Democratic governor in anticipation of significant congressional testimony
Outspoken correspondent Christina Coleman delves into the deployment of National Guard troops in Los Angeles following chaotic anti-ICE protests.
After House Republican leadership decried Democratic Gov. Tim Walz ahead of a high-profile congressional hearing on sanctuary city policy, Rep. Tom Emmer wished Walz "good luck." Confronted with the hearing, T. Walz will join Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and New York Gov. Kathy Hochul to testify before the House Oversight Committee on Thursday.
"From hurling outrageous insults toward ICE agents to offering numerous taxpayer-funded benefits to illegal aliens in Minnesota, Tim Walz's immigration agenda can be simplified as: pro-illegal alien, anti-Minnesotan," Speaker Emmer opined to our website Digital.
"Attempting to defend his terrible record before Congress will only prove he is an even bigger buffoon than I originally thought. I have only one thing to say to Timmy as he heads to D.C. this week: GOOD LUCK."
A Handful of House Democrats Rally with Republicans for Sanctuary City Crackdown
The trio of "sanctuary governors" will face a barrage of questions from the committee this week, as protests and law enforcement confrontations rage amidst increasing deportation efforts across the country and violent anti-ICE riots gripping Los Angeles.
Though the term "sanctuary city" has no legal definition, illegal immigrants are drawn to these mainly Democrat-led regions to decrease their chances of deportation. Sanctuary cities often ignore ICE requests for information, such as arrests or releases, and typically decline ICE detainer requests to retain jailed illegal migrants past their release date.
California Republicans Blast Newsom and Bass for Ignoring LA Chaos During Trump Immigration Onslaught
Chairman James Comer, R-Kentucky, announced in a hearing media advisory that the governors must clarify why they prioritize the protection of criminal illegal aliens over the security of U.S. citizens.
"Sanctuary policies grant sanctuary only to criminal illegal aliens,” Comer said. "Former President Biden exacerbated the worst border crisis in U.S. history and made room for criminal illegal aliens to infiltrate our communities."
The Administration is taking concerted action to deport criminal illegal aliens from our nation, but states with sanctuary policies, such as Illinois, Minnesota, and New York, are determined to impede federal immigration enforcement."
