"Representatives of the 'Oblast newspaper' were the initial ones from the media in Sverdlovsk to connect with the newly appointed coach of 'Ural' F.C., Miroslav Romashchenko, expressing his delight at revisiting a place that brought him joy."

In a significant move for FC Ural, Miroslav Romashchenko has been appointed as the club's new head coach, effective from June 23, 2025. The Belarusian specialist, who had previously been part of the club’s coaching staff since January 2025, was promoted to the top position following a decision by the club’s Board of Directors.

The announcement was made after a meeting between Romashchenko and Alexander Lakedemonsky, the main editor of "OG", and Daniil Boyarsky, at the stadium of the Academy of Football Club "Ural". On this occasion, Romashchenko was presented with a map of the Sverdlovsk region and a ceramic figurine in the shape of a paper boat as gifts, symbolising good luck and a connection to the region.

Romashchenko, a 51-year-old coach with a wealth of experience, has coached clubs such as Akhmat, Salyut, Tom, and worked on coaching staffs at Ferencvaros, Legia, Spartak Moscow, Dynamo, Amkar, and Sochi. His appointment comes after FC Ural's recent challenging season, where they were narrowly defeated by Akhmat in the play-off matches, leading to the latter retaining their place in the Russian championship.

In his first interview after the appointment, Romashchenko expressed his readiness to begin his work with the team as they started pre-season training on June 25. He emphasised his commitment to improving the team’s performance, building upon his understanding of the squad from his time on the coaching staff earlier in the year, and preparing FC Ural for a stronger campaign in the coming season.

The fans and the club anticipate that Romashchenko's extensive coaching background will bring a new tactical vision and stability to the team moving forward. Romashchenko, who played for "Uralmash" from 1994 to 1996, has also expressed his intention to continue exploring the Sverdlovsk region during his tenure as head coach, having visited several cities such as Perm, Polevskoy, and Revda during his time at "Uralmash".

Notably, the fans of Grozny 'Ahmat', where Romashchenko was previously the head coach, helped facilitate the meeting and asked to convey their greetings and words of respect to Romashchenko. As he embarks on this new journey with FC Ural, Romashchenko hopes to remain as head coach for a long time, aiming to lead the team towards a successful future and a potential promotion to the Russian Premier League.
