Representatives from the Sverdlovsk region secured a third-place finish in the Spartiak competition.
The Sverdlovsk tennis teams showcased their skills at the VI Summer Spartakiade of Russia for youth, held in Ryazan. The event attracted more than 100 junior boys and girls from 17 regions of Russia.
In the women's category, the Sverdlovsk team, consisting of Marta-Maria Makarova, Kira Bataiikina, Eva Miskova, and Daria Tokarevskikh (captain), had a commendable performance. Despite a semifinal loss (1:2) to the eventual champions from Moscow Oblast, they finished the tournament on a high note by defeating the Republic of Tatarstan team 2:0 in the bronze medal match.
The team had a strong start in the group stage, winning all their matches against teams from St. Petersburg, Krasnodar Krai, and Leningrad Oblast with a score of 3:0 each. However, they faced two losses in the group stage, both against teams from Moscow and the Republic of Tatarstan (both matches ended 1:2).
In the junior category, the team, comprising Mikhail Sapozhnikov, Egor Navrazidi, and Klim Kasintsev, also put up a solid performance. They managed to win only once against the Kaliningrad Oblast team in the group stage (2:1).
The Sverdlovsk teams' performance at the tournament demonstrated their competitive skills and potential for future success. As previously reported by "Obskaya Gazeta", the Sverdlovsk shooters had won nine medals at the national championships, showcasing the region's strong sporting prowess.
Despite not reaching the podium in the junior category, the team gained valuable experience that will undoubtedly serve them well in future competitions. The women's team, on the other hand, secured a bronze medal, demonstrating their strong competitive skill among the youth participants.
Overall, the Sverdlovsk tennis teams showed a commendable level of play at the event, and their performance is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the players and their coaches.
