The data, based on the Police Input Statistics of the Federal Police, covers the period from September 16, 2024, to March 31, 2025. However, it should be noted that the data for March 2025 are preliminary and may still be subject to slight changes due to subsequent recordings or quality assurance measures.
The Directorate's report highlights that a total of 7,724 unauthorized entries were detected at the borders with Switzerland and France during this period. In an effort to protect internal security and reduce irregular secondary migration, a total of 6,515 entry-preventing or residence-terminating measures were taken at the border or in connection with the illegal border crossing.
Of these measures, 840 criminal proceedings were initiated, with 491 at the Swiss border and 349 at the French border. Moreover, 80 suspected smugglers were arrested, with 48 at the Swiss border and 32 at the French border. The Federal Police also prevented a total of 293 persons from entering Germany due to their possession of a re-entry ban.
The internal border controls have been extended to the borders with France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Denmark, in addition to Poland, Czech Republic, Austria, and Switzerland. The search results do not provide information about the leader of the Federal Police Directorate Stuttgart responsible for border controls between Baden-Württemberg and Switzerland/France during the Schengen border controls or the publication of related statistics.
