Reporter's Comment on Lamar Jackson's Weight Loss Sparks Response: Lamar Jackson Responds to Criticism About His Drastic 30lb Weight Loss
Fit and Fierce: Lamar Jackson's Journey to a Leaner, More Agile Self
Get ready, NFL fans, because Lamar Jackson is back, and he's not just playing - he's dominating! The Baltimore Ravens' star quarterback has shed some pounds and is looking leaner than ever, making him a force to be reckoned with on the field.
After weighing in at 230 pounds in 2022, Jackson wasn't pleased with his physique and decided to make a change. He dropped a substantial 15 pounds and returned ahead of last season weighing 200 pounds. In an interview with CBS, Jackson revealed that he felt "fat" in 2022 and had been motivated to trim down after watching old game footage that made him question his fitness.
"I was fat, to me. I felt like I was fat," he said. "I just saw a video from two years ago [against] the Browns and I looked out of shape. But I was in shape."
The results of his weight loss were apparent on the field, as Jackson hit an impressive 21.25 mph on a 47-yard touchdown run against the Houston Texans in Week 17. Unfortunately, Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills proved too strong for the Ravens in the Divisional Playoffs, ending their season.
While Jackson may not be as big as some of his fellow quarterbacks like Jalen Hurts or Josh Allen, he's certainly quick and agile, making him a formidable opponent for any defense. In fact, Jackson boasts yardage totals through seven seasons that no other quarterback in NFL history can come close to.
One reporter asked him about his offseason workout routine and was met with a humble, yet confident response. "The offseason. Obviously, you're still pretty skinny, but did you doing anything differently?" he said.
"No, just eat food, push-ups, sit-ups, that's all. Just stay in shape," Jackson replied. "Don't say skinny. Fit, that sounds better. 'Cos skinny like puny. I don't think I'm puny, I'm still 200."
Fans were quick to praise Jackson's blunt response and his impressive fitness transformation. "Definitely not skinny.. indeed fit," commented one on X. Another fan added, "He's lighter now than he was in college. Dude is about to hit another gear."
As Jackson heads into the 2024 season, fans can expect to see him tormenting defenses and taking his skills to new heights. Whether he'll face off against Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen in the quest for a Super Bowl title remains to be seen, but one thing is certain - Lamar Jackson is a quarterback to watch!
