Reporter stuns pros with 23-second pit crew challenge at Texas Motor Speedway

A News Texas reporter recently took on a high-speed pit crew challenge at Texas Motor Speedway. Bo Evans, under the guidance of a professional, tested his skills against the clock in a task usually reserved for trained athletes. His surprising performance even caught the attention of the experts. Jacob Nelson, front-tire changer for Niece Motorsports’ Truck No. 42 team, walked Evans through the challenge. The task required carrying two heavy racing tyres to marked spots before sprinting to the No. 42 pit box and back. The goal was to finish in under 30 seconds—a standard set for professional pit crews.

Evans completed the drill in just 23 seconds. Nelson later remarked that the reporter’s time was strong enough to consider him for an actual pit crew role. The full experience will air on *The Score with Bill Jones* this Sunday at 10:30 p.m. Viewers can catch it right after *News Texas at 10*.

Evans’ quick time demonstrated the physical demands of pit crew work. The segment will give audiences a closer look at the speed and precision required in motorsport. His performance also highlighted how even newcomers can rise to the challenge under expert coaching.
