Laura Dahlmeier, a phenomenal German biathlete, touched down at the women's Bundesliga team of FC Bayern Munich. This electrifying sportswoman has an impressive track record, winning seven gold, three silver, and five bronze medals at biathlon world championships, World Cup races, and claiming the overall World Cup in the 2016/17 season. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, she brought home the sprint and pursuit races, as well as the bronze medal in the individual event.

Dahlmeier's Mountain Getaways

Since her retirement in 2018, she's been an avid hiker and mountaineer, seeking her peace in the mountains. These are raw and rugged terrains, untethered from the beaten path, where she finds solace, isolation, and the chance to simply be herself. She admitted as much in an interview with the online portal Web.de, "These are mountains where there's no real path, just a trail or a climbing route where you have to look where you're going. These are mountains where you're ideally alone or with just your friends. These are important places for me, they were also during my active career."

Recently, the 31-year-old graced the women's FC Bayern Munich team with her presence and was taken aback by the infectious energy. "I experienced how cool team sports can be. And it was incredibly inspiring to be with so many motivated, cool women in such a small space," she recalled.

Equality on the Horizon

The biathlon legend was quizzed about whether equality was a prevalent topic during her visit. "Well, yes, but not in a 'women versus men' way. I think comparisons are difficult. It is what it is. You should do what you can. But it's pointless to always get upset or dwell on things you can't change," the 31-year-old responded.Dahlmeier also shared her thoughts on the players of FC Bayern Munich and the importance of dedicating themselves to their craft, promoting their sports, and exhibiting its cool factor. However, she pointed out that they can't change the world overnight. Instead, she believes that people should celebrate the small victories and understand that the outcome is not always within their control.
