Reported Role of Sadie Sink in Upcoming Spider-Man Sequel: Spider-Man: Brand New Day

In an exciting turn of events, actress Sadie Sink has joined the cast of the highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, alongside Tom Holland's Spider-Man.

The exact role Sink will play remains a matter of speculation, with theories suggesting she could portray Gwen Stacy, May 'Mayday' Parker, or an alternate universe version of one of these characters. If Sink is indeed cast as Gwen Stacy, it might indicate her character's demise in the storyline, as has been seen in previous Spider-Man adaptations.

Meanwhile, the plot of Spider-Man: Brand New Day is shrouded in mystery, but recent set photos and reports suggest that the film will centre on Peter Parker quitting his role as Spider-Man to focus on college, only to be drawn back into the action when a new threat endangers his friends. Key plot points include Peter's struggle to leave behind his Spider-Man identity, his alliance with Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle (The Punisher), and the appearance of villains such as Mister Negative and Scorpion.

Reports also indicate that Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as Bruce Banner/Hulk, potentially in a significant and possibly antagonistic role. This could lead to confrontations with the Punisher and Spider-Man before they join forces against the villains. The narrative is further complicated by the presence of a reimagined J. Jonah Jameson and rumours of a deepened connection between Bruce Banner and Peter Parker.

As for Sink's character, it's expected that she will be a love interest for Peter, similar to Mary-Jane and Gwen. The colourings of her character will reportedly be reminiscent of comic book Mary-Jane. However, the fate of her character in the film and subsequent instalments remains unclear.

Filming for Spider-Man: Brand New Day commenced in August 2025, with UK locations, and the movie is scheduled for release on July 31, 2026, as part of MCU Phase Six. The film will also feature new villains such as Tarantula, Scorpion, Boomerang, Tombstone, and Ramrod, although the complete list of villains has yet to be revealed.

Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: Brand New Day promises to deliver an action-packed, multiversal grounded story that will keep fans on the edge of their seats. The audience is left eagerly anticipating the unveiling of Sadie Sink's character and her role in the Spider-Man universe.
