Report states Monday, May 5 as required by LPA (Low-Pressure Area)
Down in the Heart of the Philippines, a Weather Storm Brews
Over the beautiful islands of Mindanao, a low-pressure area (LPA) has been brewing, as reported by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Saturday, May 3, 2025.
Manny John Agbay, a Pagasa Visayas weather specialist, confirmed that the LPA might be heading towards Palawan by Monday, May 5, but Central Visayas and other nearby regions could still experience intermittent showers.
"Tomorrow possibly it will be in Palawan and the province will be affected, so, expect that by Monday this LPA will dissolve," Manny John Agbay stated.

Manny John Agbay added that Sunday, May 4, might bring fair weather to Central Visayas, but the low-pressure area (LPA) may linger and potentially intensify in Palawan.
Central Visayas could expect pleasant weather for the following week, but the intense heat is expected to return.
According to Pagasa's forecast, by 2:00 pm on Sunday, the LPA could strengthen into a Tropical Depression within the next 24 hours.
Pagasa declared the start of the dry season on March 26, 2025.
As early as Wednesday, May 1, Pagasa warned of a potential low-pressure area (LPA) located around 515 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

The low-pressure area (LPA) and the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) are expected to bring wet and unsettled conditions, with the possibility of thunderstorms and lightning in parts of Mindanao, Palawan, and Central Visayas.
Insight: The latest forecasts from PAGASA's Sub-Seasonal to Seasonal (S2S) data do not show an explicit mention of an LPA through May 11, 2025. However, for the period of May 3–5, above-normal rainfall was forecasted for Luzon, western/central Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula in the previous forecast ending before May 5. Central Visayas could see below-normal rainfall for May 5–11 in both PCA and CCA models, while eastern Mindanao and central Luzon retain above-normal chances. No specific LPA path or development details are available. For real-time LPA updates, direct consultation of PAGASA's daily weather bulletins is necessary.
