Repono AB Expands in Romania with 202MW Battery Project

Repono's latest acquisition in Romania boosts its regional capacity to 1.4GW. The 202MW project, RtB, is a significant step towards the company's goal of developing large-scale storage infrastructure.

Repono AB Expands in Romania with 202MW Battery Project

Repono AB, a Swedish energy storage company, has acquired a significant standalone battery project in Romania. The 202 MW / 404 MWh facility, known as RtB, is located in Argeș County and holds a grid connection agreement with Transelectrica. The acquisition expands Repono's presence in Southeast Europe, with Romanian projects now totalling up to 1.4 GW.

Karim Nils Grueber, CEO of Repono AB, hailed the transaction as a crucial milestone for the company's commitment to developing large-scale storage infrastructure. Harmen de Kool, Chairman of Repono AB and representative of investor InnoEnergy, noted that the project aligns with InnoEnergy's goal of achieving carbon neutrality.

Repono is actively advancing projects in Germany, Italy, Austria, and Poland. The company has secured a 1.4 GWh supply deal for its storage projects with HyperStrong. Gunvor and Enspired will handle offtake and market optimization for the RtB project. Romanian law firm RTPR provided legal support for the acquisition.

The acquisition of the RtB project in Romania strengthens Repono's position in Southeast Europe. With a total capacity of up to 1.4 GW in Romania, the company continues to play a significant role in the region's renewable energy landscape.
