The much-anticipated 57th CRB U19 Champions Trophy is set to take place from April 18 to 22 at the BV 04 sports facility in Düsseldorf. This international youth football competition, renowned for its strong field of participants, will see a total of 2,000 spectators on the grounds, as per a security concept.

The tournament kicks off on Maundy Thursday at 7 pm, with the opening match featuring last year's finalists of the Japan High School Selection and Borussia Mönchengladbach. The competition consists of two groups of five teams, followed by final matches to determine the winner.

One of the favourites for the tournament is Dinamo Zagreb, according to Fortuna Düsseldorf's scouting expert, Robert Palikuca. Martin Meyer, who has taken over the leadership of the tournament from his late father, has been instrumental in organising the event, which is held almost exclusively with volunteer work.

Ticket sales for the tournament are online-only this year, with a new partner Ticketmaster. To guarantee entry, tickets must be secured in advance, as there's a risk of 'sold out' at the entrance box office. Excitement is guaranteed, with a prediction game and a penalty shootout as part of the programme.

For organisational reasons, two matches on Saturday at 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm will not be held at the BV 04 sports venue but at TSV Meerbusch's grounds instead. Sunday has been designated as family day with a special surprise for Düsseldorf's football fans.

Marcus Giesenfeld, sports director of the tournament, states that the field of participants is strong, but it's uncertain who will win. Despite the uncertainty, one thing is certain: the 57th CRB U19 Champions Trophy promises to be an unforgettable event for all football fans in Düsseldorf. The winner's trophy is named after Karl-Heinz "Charly" Meyer, the previous tournament organizer.
