DreamWorks has announced a new instalment in the beloved Shrek franchise, titled Shrek 5. The film will feature the voice talents of Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, and Eddie Murphy, who have all reprised their roles as Shrek, Fiona, and Donkey, respectively. The release date for Shrek 5 has been pushed back from July 1, 2026, to December 23, 2026. However, the director for the film is yet to be officially announced, despite Eddie Murphy's mention of a 2025 premiere.

Meanwhile, Minions 3, originally scheduled for July 1, 2026, has taken Shrek 5's original release date. The movie will be directed by Peter Coffin and written by Brian Lynch.
