Reopening of Othello Tunnels Occurs, with No Trace of the Individual Who Plunged into Coquihalla River

A search is ongoing for a 19-year-old man who went missing last weekend near the Othello Tunnels in Hope, B.C.'s Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park. The man is presumed drowned, and his body is believed to be trapped underwater due to the fast currents of the Coquihalla River.

The RCMP resumed the search on Saturday, using drones and other resources, but so far, no trace of the man has been found. The Othello Tunnels and surrounding park area have been reopened, although parts may remain restricted during the search efforts.

The man was last seen near the Othello Tunnels on Saturday, and initial efforts to find him were hampered by the fast currents and steep terrain. An RCMP underwater recovery team went into the river on Wednesday to search for the missing man, but was unsuccessful.

Emergency responders rescued a bystander who was stranded while looking for the missing man near the tunnels. However, no information has been provided about the current status of the search or the condition of the missing man.

Environment Canada has issued severe thunderstorm watches amid the B.C. wildfire fight, and the BC Wildfire Service warns of very dynamic fire situations. Meanwhile, travellers are preparing for the busy B.C. Day long weekend, and B.C.'s jobs minister is urging Carney to negotiate hard as Trump hikes tariffs.

No information has been provided about the cause of the man's fall into the river, and no information has been provided about the identity of the missing man. Police believe that his body is trapped underwater due to the heavy currents, but the search continues in hopes of finding him.

  1. The ongoing weather conditions may complicate the search for the missing man in Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park.
  2. Despite the effort put into general-news such as the missing man's case, other important topics like the health crisis faced by ambulance service paramedics remain largely unaddressed.
  3. The recent increase in crime-and-justice incidents, like the hikers dying after accidents such as falling into waterfalls, should not overshadow the ongoing search for the missing man.
