Renowned guitar YouTuber devises and introduces their own brand's debut model, a guitar apt to attain scarcity status due to lack of industry endorsement.
In an exciting development for the music industry, popular YouTube personality and guitar enthusiast Steve Onotera, better known as Samurai Guitarist, has launched his own gear brand called Otera. After two years of meticulous development, the first product from Otera is now available - the TK-1, a unique electric guitar.
The Otera TK-1 is the result of a collaboration between Samurai Guitarist and guitar brand expert Tracy Hoeft. The TK-1 was refined and developed with the help of Hoeft, who has contributed significantly to the vision for Otera's guitar model. The TK-1 is built by the renowned Cort factory, which also produces guitars for Squier, Ibanez, and PRS.
The Otera TK-1 boasts a distinctive design that slightly modifies the classic Telecaster template. It features a 9.5" radius rosewood fingerboard with 21 jumbo frets and dot inlays, and a neck shaped to a vintage U profile with a semi-gloss finish for improved playability.
One of the standout features of the Otera TK-1 is its pickup configuration, which includes a Seymour Duncan P90 Silencer Soapbar in the neck and a BG1400 in the bridge. These high-quality pickups deliver a unique tonal character that sets the TK-1 apart from other guitars in its class.
Another notable feature is the ashtray bridge plate with three brass saddles, similar to vintage Teles. Each TK-1 also ships with a unique turquoise-esque finish, adding to its exclusivity. The guitar comes with two pickguards - a standard white one and another with a Cherry Blossom motif and Onotera's signature.
Samurai Guitarist is no stranger to the music world, with a significant following on YouTube (1.18 million subscribers) and Instagram (over 120,000 followers). He is known for his educational, informative, and entertaining content. His latest venture, Otera, follows in the footsteps of other successful guitarists who have established their own brands, such as Tosin Abasi and Zakk Wylde.
The Otera TK-1 is a limited-edition guitar, with only 100 examples being made. Each TK-1 is priced at $1,299 apiece. For more information about the Otera TK-1, head over to the Otera website. As the world of guitar making continues to evolve, it's exciting to see more professional players and social media guitarists, like Samurai Guitarist, branching out and making their mark in the industry.
