Films directed by Martin Scorsese venturing into the horror genre based on a book - Renowned director Martin Scorsese embarks on a new project, venturing into the genre of horror cinema.
In an exciting turn of events, acclaimed filmmakers Martin Scorsese and Apple Studios are set to join forces once again for the horror adaptation of Peter Cameron's novel 'What Happens at Night.' The project is co-financed and produced by Apple Original Films and Studiocanal.
Legendary filmmaker Scorsese (82) will direct the film, marking his first collaboration with Jennifer Lawrence (35). This will also be the second time Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio (50) work together, following their successful partnership on 'Killers of the Flower Moon' (2023).
The story follows a married American couple who travel to a small European city to adopt a baby. Upon checking into a vast, deserted hotel, they encounter a variety of mysterious characters, including an eccentric singer, a degenerate businessman, and a charismatic faith healer. The hotel, shrouded in mystery, holds secrets that challenge their understanding of reality.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence will star in the film, with DiCaprio moving forward with 'What Happens at Night' as his next project. The film is scheduled to begin production in January 2026.
Meanwhile, Lawrence's latest film, 'Die My Love,' is set for a November 13, 2025, release, while DiCaprio's 'One Battle After Another' hits theaters on September 25, 2025.
While Peter Cameron is known for his contributions as a screenwriter to Marvel productions like Werewolf by Night, Agatha All Along, and WandaVision, there is no clear indication that he is the author of the horror novel being adapted. However, Studiocanal previously acquired the rights to the book.
This promises to be an intriguing and suspenseful film that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats. Stay tuned for more updates on 'What Happens at Night.'
