Maya Mare to Undergo Comprehensive Renovation and Modernization
The leisure landscape of Halle (Saale) is set for a significant change as the popular Maya Mare facility prepares for a comprehensive renovation and modernization. The project, scheduled to commence on September 14, 2021, and anticipated to be completed by mid-December 2025, aims to establish a benchmark for sustainable and energy-efficient leisure activities.
During the renovation period, the adjoining Viva Mare fitness club will remain open to cater to the fitness needs of the community. Existing members of Maya Mare will receive a special price for their usual training offer at Viva Mare as a token of appreciation.
The investment for this ambitious project is approximately 8 million euros. The renovation measures are so complex that they require a complete closure of the bath. However, updates on the renovation progress will be shared regularly via the social media channels of Maya Mare.
The largest part of the renovation work will be the construction of a new slide world, designed to offer exciting Mexican leisure adventures once the facility reopens. The renovated Maya Mare will offer an unforgettable experience for all age groups.
The wave pool will also undergo an update, and the sanitary facilities in the entire bathing area will be renewed. New LED lighting will be installed in the bathing area, improving ambiance and reducing electricity consumption.
In addition, the replacement of the ventilation systems is aimed at reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions. Part of the funding for this upgrade comes from federal funds allocated for climate protection projects.
The sauna area will also see changes, with two existing sweat offers being completely redesigned. Between 15 and 20 different companies will have to be coordinated simultaneously during the renovation to ensure a smooth and timely completion of the project.
The closure is due to the planned renovation and modernization measures aimed at improving the bathing and sauna experience, increasing energy efficiency, and meeting environmental standards. The Maya Mare, a company of Stadtwerke Halle, has been an important part of the region's leisure and experience landscape for years, with demand steadily growing and technical and infrastructural requirements changing.
