Following Tuesday's incident, the director of the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis informed BBC that wounded individuals with bullet wounds arrived after Israeli forces opened fire on civilians seeking aid in the west of Rafah. A foreign doctor working in the region described the scene as a "massacre" and added that aid workers were overwhelmed by the sheer number of casualties.
International Repercussions
UN Secretary-General António Guterres renewed his demand for consequences following these new reports. "The Secretary-General continues to insist on an immediate, unbiased investigation of these events and accountability for the culprits," UN spokesman Stéphane Dujarric said in New York. "It is deplorable that civilians are subjected to the risk of death while trying to obtain sustenance."
