Renovation of Artificial Turf Pitch at Am Eisenbrand Sports Facility
The renovation of an artificial turf pitch at the Am Eisenbrand sports facility in Buerich is currently underway. The city administration has allocated a total budget of 600,000 euros for this project, aiming to make the pitch suitable for higher-level hockey games.
The existing artificial turf system, which has been in use since 2006, has become increasingly worn over the years. The resulting holes and frayed seams had to be repeatedly repaired due to intensive use. In light of its condition, the city administration recommended the exchange of the artificial turf.
The renovation work includes the installation of a new artificial turf on a 7,500 square meter elastic base layer. A water-filled pitch, which is now standard on hockey pitches, is required for hockey on the new surface. This improvement will enhance the playing properties, such as ball behavior and ball control, compared to the old surface.
The new surface will be suitable for both football and hockey, making it a versatile facility for various sports activities. Higher-level hockey games, selection games, or corresponding training measures can be held on the pitch in the future.
The dismantling and recycling of the existing artificial turf system have already been completed. The renovation work is ongoing, and it is expected to be finished soon. Once completed, the renovated artificial turf pitch at Am Eisenbrand sports facility will provide a much-improved playing surface for athletes and sports enthusiasts in the region.
