Renovation of the synthetic grass field at the "Am Eisenbrand" sports complex is underway

The municipality of Büderich has commenced the renovation of the artificial turf field at the "At Eisenbrand" sports facility, following a recommendation from the city administration due to the worn-out condition of the existing pitch, which was created in 2006.

A total of 600,000 euros has been allocated for the project, with the municipality financing the renovation. The work involves the dismantling and recycling of the existing artificial turf system, and the installation of a new elastic base layer of 7,500 square meters.

The new base layer will serve as the foundation for the new artificial turf, which is set to be laid on top. The renovation is a significant investment aimed at improving the playing properties of the pitch, such as ball behavior and ball control, to ensure it remains suitable for both football (FC Büderich) and hockey (Grün-Weiß-Rot).

One of the key improvements will be the installation of a water-filled pitch, a requirement for hockey. Irrigation of artificial turf is now standard on hockey pitches to maintain optimal playing conditions.

The renovation work is necessary as the intense use of the pitch over the years has resulted in holes and lifting seams that required repeated repairs. The new surface will address these issues, enabling higher-level hockey games, selection games, or corresponding training measures to be held on the pitch in the future.

The renovation project is expected to enhance the sports facilities in Büderich, providing a top-quality playing surface for local teams and potentially attracting more events to the area. The work is currently underway, and the community eagerly awaits the completion of this much-needed upgrade.
