Sea The Stars Colt Renato Sold for 80,000gns in Tattersalls Online September Sale

In the recent Tattersalls Online September Sale, a Marco Botti-trained colt named Renato, a son of the legendary stallion Sea The Stars, was sold for 80,000gns. Renato, who was previously purchased for 65,000gns at the 2023 Tattersalls December Yearling Sale, is a brother of Group 2 Premio Lydia Tesio winner Call Me Love, bred by the Vittadini family's Grundy Bloodstock.

Renato, who was raced in association with Jonny Allison, part-owner of top two-year-old Havana Hurricane, has been a consistent performer, finishing second in three of his seven starts so far. His ownership was retained by Owner Beppa E Gigi S.R.L. after being offered to dissolve a partnership.

The sale of Renato was one of many four-figure transactions that took place in the Tattersalls Online September Sale, with much of the trade involving horses in or out of training. By Wednesday evening, 88 lots had been sold for a total of 499,100gns, with an average price of 5,672gns and a median price of 2,900gns.

Another notable horse in the sale was the progressive sprint handicapper Marchogion, trained by Andrew Balding. The colt, who was unsold at 185,000gns, is a Tim Easterby colt and the first winner for Gestut Etzean sire Japan, a dual Group 1 hero.

Baker Blue, a gelded son of Ardad, trained by Jessica Harrington for Alpha Racing, was also sold in the Tattersalls Online September Sale. Despite not finishing first in six runs, Baker Blue managed seconds, thirds, fourths, and fifths in his races. He was sold for 31,000gns.

Baker Blue's last run was a second over five furlongs at Down Royal. Prior to this, he had a commendable third-place finish at the Curragh in the Group 3 Round Tower Stakes. His previous best performance was a second-place finish in the Group 2 Railway Stakes at the Curragh.

The sale of these horses marks a significant event in the horse racing industry, with many eagerly awaiting the next big sale to see what promising young talent will be unveiled.
