Calling all art enthusiasts! The bustling city of Amsterdam is about to turn 750, and it's throwing itself a grand birthday party! In celebration, the world-renowned Leiden Collection, with a whopping 75 paintings from 17th-century artists, is gracing the walls of H'ART Museum. These treasures include a staggering 18 masterpieces by the one and only Rembrandt van Rijn, a legendary figure from the Golden Age of Dutch painting.

The exhibition, titled "From Rembrandt to Vermeer," kicks off on Wednesday, shedding light on the intriguing lives of Amsterdam's citizens during the 17th century. Get ready to feast your senses on the vivid portrayals of this era, brimming with self-portraits, wealthy patrons, and scenes of the everyday in the golden city.

The Colorful Palette of 17th Century Life

The visual tapestry comprises 27 painters, bringing to life the vibrant mosaic of urban living. Expect to find opulent depictions of esteemed citizens, captured in scenes of family gatherings, meals, or indulging in leisure activities. Artists of the time also showcased a range of characters from various social classes, immortalized in their daily activities, visits to markets, as well as tavern and home scenes.

A Dozen Rembrandts to Delight Your Senses

The pièce de résistance of this exhibition is an impressive array of 17 paintings and one drawing by none other than Rembrandt himself. After moving from Leiden to Amsterdam in 1630, Rembrandt flourished in the city, carving his unforgettable mark in its artistic landscape. American business magnate and lifelong admirer of Rembrandt, Thomas Kaplan, credits his love for the master artist as the driving force behind the Leiden Collection, one of the most significant private repositories of Dutch art from the 17th century.

Spotlight: Vermeer's Enigmatic Masterwork

As the cherry atop this extraordinary exhibition, paintings by Rembrandt's contemporaries, including Ferdinand Bol, Govaert Flinck, Frans Hals, and Jan Steen, will also be gracing the museum's hallowed halls. However, the undisputed star of the show is Johannes Vermeer's (1632-1675) "Young Woman at the Virginals," the sole Vermeer painting in private ownership.
