In a recent military operation in Gaza, the remains of two hostages were retrieved. As per British media, citing the Israeli military and Shin Bet security service, the deceased individuals are Judy Weinstein-Haggai, 70, and Gadi Haggai, 72 - two Israeli-Americans. This unfortunate incident occurred during a Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, near their home in Kibbutz Nir Oz.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his condolences to the bereaved families, stating that the couple had four children and seven grandchildren. Netanyahu also made a commitment to return all the still-held hostages by Hamas to Israel.

The Hostage Families Forum shared, "The return of Judy and Gadi, while painful and heart-wrenching, alleviates our uncertainty. This brings us hope for the process of healing and recovery, together with the entire Israeli nation." The government must make every effort to negotiate an agreement with Islamic Hamas for the return of all 58 remaining hostages, including the deceased for burial.

Israel's Pursuit for Remaining Gaza Hostages through a Major Offensive

Currently, 58 hostages remain in captivity, according to Israeli authorities. Estimates suggest that about a third of these individuals are still alive, while the status of others is uncertain. Moreover, the remains of 33 abducted persons are reportedly trapped within the sealed-off territory, which harbors numerous underground tunnels.

During the radical Islamic Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, approximately 1,200 people tragically lost their lives, and 251 hostages were taken, according to Israeli reports. Although many have since been released or handed over, some hostages remain in captivity or are unaccounted for.

In response to the Hamas attack, Israel launched extensive military operations in the Palestinian territory. As per data from the Hamas-controlled health ministry, which remains unverified, over 54,400 people have perished so far.
