The Grim Finding of Hamas' Military Chief, Mohammed al-Sinwar

The remains of Hamas' military chief, Mohammed al-Sinwar, have been recognized by the Israeli military forces. His lifeless body was discovered in a covert tunnel hidden under the European Hospital in Khan Yunis, as per an official statement. On May 13, a fierce attack claimed the lives of Al-Sinwar and the commander of the Rafah Brigade, Mohammed Sabaneh, who were hiding within the Islamic Hamas' command center[1].

In the tunnel, various belongings of the two commanders were discovered according to the army's declaration, without providing further details. "The lifeless bodies of other militants have been unveiled during the operation, and their identities are currently under investigation," the statement read.

The Tunnel's Terrifying Depths

Several journalists, including a photographer from the German Press Agency, were granted access to the chilling underground tunnel today. He described it as being incredibly deep beneath the earth and situated just a stone's throw from the clinic. The tunnel contained numerous blankets scattered on the floor, suggesting it may have been utilized as a sleeping area. An overpowering stench of decay permeated the air, while worms were present in abundance on the damp ground. No sophisticated equipment could be seen within the tunnel[2].

Israel has long accused Hamas of using medical facilities for military purposes, an allegation that the organization has historically denied[1]. Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, also announced that Mohammed al-Sinwar was deceased in parliament, though Hamas has yet to confirm this[1].

This fatal blow marks the demise of Sinwar's brother, who was also a former Hamas leader, Jihia al-Sinwar[2]. After the Israeli military eliminated Hamas' military chief, Mohammed Deif, last year, Al-Sinwar assumed command of the armed wing of Hamas, known as the Kassam Brigades[2].
