Remains of an individual, later identified as singer D4vd, discovered in a Tesla
In a shocking turn of events, human remains discovered on 8 September in a Tesla have been identified as those of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who went missing from Lake Elsinore, California, in April 2024. The vehicle is registered to 20-year-old David Anthony Burke, professionally known as D4vd.
The Los Angeles Police Department is treating the case as a death investigation, and no suspects have been publicly identified. A spokesperson for D4vd stated that he is "fully cooperating with authorities."
Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who was 13 at the time of her disappearance, shared a tattoo with several celebrities, including D4vd, Rihanna, and Lindsay Lohan. The tattoo, a "Shhh..." inscription on her right index finger, was also noted by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
The remains were found wrapped in plastic in the car's front trunk. The discovery has affected some commercial partnerships involving D4vd, and the discovery led to the cancellation of D4vd's Seattle tour date.
Authorities have appealed for information regarding the circumstances of Rivas Hernandez's death, and a song titled "Celeste" by D4vd has been linked to the case, though authorities have not indicated any connection to the death. Rivas' mother stated that her daughter had previously dated someone named David.
As the investigation continues, the music industry and the public await further updates on this tragic case. The cause of death for Celeste Rivas Hernandez has not been released.
