Remaining undaunted in the face of competition, Visma-Lease a Bike declares their unwavering determination to persist in the Tour de France, with Tadej Pogacar maintaining his dominant presence.

In the ongoing 2022 Tour de France, Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) currently holds a lead of 3:31 over Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike). This significant gap was further widened after stage 12, where Pogacar demonstrated his dominance on the last climb, leaving Vingegaard struggling to keep up.

Vingegaard, who felt good at the start of the stage, went too aggressively on the final ascent, ultimately finishing second. Pogacar, on the other hand, was in a class of his own, putting 2:14 into Vingegaard on the Hautacam climb.

Despite the setback, Visma remains determined to keep fighting and try to unseat Pogacar, the world champion. Visma's sports director, Grischa Niermann, stated that they didn't expect to lose two minutes on stage 12. However, they are not giving up just yet.

Niermann also acknowledged that Vingegaard made his own plan on the last climb, suggesting that the Danish rider is not without strategy. Visma had tried to push the pace on the stage, but the absence of Matteo Jorgenson, who had to drop, made the task more challenging.

The Tour de France still has 9 days left, and Friday's time trial promises to be a crucial test for both riders. The 10.9km race with 645m of climbing could potentially provide an opportunity for Vingegaard to hit back, as shown in previous editions of the race. If he can manage to reduce Pogacar's lead, it will be a clear sign that the race is still on.

However, given Pogacar's commanding lead and consistent performance throughout the race, the chances for Vingegaard to catch up are very low. Without major time losses or exceptional counterattacks, it seems that Pogacar is set to maintain and possibly extend his lead, making him the strong favourite to win the 2022 Tour de France.

Vingegaard was unavailable for comment after stage 12, but his team remains optimistic about his chances in the remaining stages. As the race progresses, it will be interesting to see if Vingegaard can mount a comeback or if Pogacar will continue his dominance.
