Religious leaders mobilized by Mudavadi to bolster the United Democratic Alliance's (UDA) Malava by-election efforts
Mudavadi Leads United Democratic Alliance's Campaign in Malava By-election
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi is spearheading the United Democratic Alliance's (UDA) campaign for the Malava by-election 2025, with a focus on unity, continuity, and service to the people of Malava.
Mudavadi's campaign strategy involves engaging key local leaders, such as over 100 clan chairpersons and elders from the 29 Kabras clans, which are the dominant sub-tribe in Malava. He has reaffirmed his role as a patron and urged collective progress to continue the development left by the late MP Malulu Injendi.
The UDA campaign also plans to involve a wide range of stakeholders, including youth, women, scholars, farmers, and business leaders, to build a comprehensive support base. Mudavadi has emphasized the importance of fair party primaries to strengthen legitimacy and candidate credibility.
Religious leaders, such as Rev Fr Vincent Sanga, the Secretary of the Malava Interfaith Council, and Bishop Elly Taliti, Chairman of the Malava Interfaith Council, are likely to play a supportive role in the campaign, given their influence in Western Kenya politics and Mudavadi's grassroots approach.
Key issues driving the campaign include continued development and local infrastructure, political stability and unity, and transparency and fairness in the candidate selection process. A recent unfortunate event, the sudden death of a UDA aspirant, may influence the election dynamics and necessitates careful management by campaign leaders like Mudavadi.
Mudavadi has urged the electorate to engage in self-reflection and to remain focused on the by-election, avoiding distractions from political sideshows. He has pledged to work closely with the electorate to ensure they choose a leader who will continue the late MP's legacy. Mudavadi has also called for a peaceful campaign period in Malava Constituency.
The by-election in Malava Constituency is scheduled for November 27, 2025.
