Release of 2025 JFK Assassination Records Documents

In a significant move towards transparency, President John F. Kennedy's Assassination Records Collection was released to the public on March 18, 2025. This decision was made possible by Executive Order 14176, signed by the President on January 23, 2025, which authorized the declassification and public release of classified records related to the JFK assassination.

The release of these archival materials was a long-awaited event, marking a crucial milestone in the ongoing efforts to shed light on one of the most scrutinized events in U.S. history. A total of 32,000 pages were made available at 7 PM EST on March 18, with an additional 13,700 pages following suit at 9:30 PM EST.

The National Archives has made these records accessible both online and in person at their location in College Park, Maryland. For those who believe they may be affected, the National Archives encourages reaching out via email at [email protected].

The digitized records have been added to the National Archives Catalog and can be found here. The National Archives has partnered with various federal agencies to ensure full compliance with the President's directive, in support of Executive Order 14176.

It's important to note that some of the released records contain personal identification information of living individuals. In collaboration with the Social Security Administration, the National Archives and Records Administration is working diligently to protect the identities of those affected.

Further releases have since taken place, with 704 pages being made available on April 3, 2025, and 53 pages on March 26, 2025. Additional FBI records were transferred from the FBI to the National Archives between March and June 2025.
