Reinforcement of Wrexham's Offensive Line through the Addition of Kieffer Moore
Wrexham AFC has made a significant move in the transfer market, signing Welsh striker Kieffer Moore on a three-year contract from Sheffield United. This marks the eighth signing for the club this summer and adds to their formidable attack, as Wrexham AFC now boasts eight senior strikers following Moore's addition.
Moore, who is 32 years old, expressed enthusiasm for the move, citing his desire to be an experienced leader and bring a lot to the team. With a wealth of Championship and international experience, he is poised to make a substantial impact at his new club.
Throughout his career, Moore has demonstrated a steady progression from lower leagues to Championship and Premier League football. His goal-scoring form has earned him recognition at every level, and he has made significant contributions to his teams, including helping Bournemouth gain promotion to the Premier League.
Moore has made 49 appearances for Wales, scoring 14 goals, including a recent World Cup qualifying win over Liechtenstein in June. Notably, he scored the goal that secured Bournemouth’s promotion to the Premier League in 2022. Over his Championship career, Moore scored around 60 goals in 203 games, demonstrating his consistent goal-scoring at that level.
Wrexham's manager, Phil Parkinson, is delighted to welcome Moore to the club. "Kieffer is a proven goal-scorer with a great work ethic," Parkinson said. "He will be a valuable addition to our squad, and I look forward to seeing him in action."
The transfer fee for Moore is estimated to be around £2 million. This summer, Wrexham AFC has also signed goalkeeper Danny Ward, forward Ryan Hardie, defender Liberato Cacace, midfielder George Thomason, Lewis O'Brien, and forward Josh Windass.
As Wrexham gears up for their first season in the EFL Championship since 1982, they are looking to make more signings. The club's owner, Ryan Reynolds, and Rob McElhenney, are in discussions to sign Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich Town for a record fee of approximately £7.5 million.
Wrexham's first match in the EFL Championship will be against Southampton at St Mary's Stadium on August 9. The team is looking forward to the challenge and is excited to have Moore on board to help drive them forward.
In other news, Paul Mullin and Jake Bickerstaff have departed Wrexham AFC, with Mullin going on loan to Wigan Athletic and Bickerstaff moving to Cheltenham Town.
Moore started his career at Torquay United's youth system and has played for multiple teams, including Paignton Saints, Truro City, Dorchester Town, Yeovil Town, Norwegian clubs, Rotherham United, Cardiff City, and Bournemouth. His international career includes representing Wales, making his senior debut in 2019 and being part of Wales' UEFA Euro 2020 squad, scoring on his tournament debut, and contributing to Wales qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup for the first time since 1958.
Wrexham is looking forward to working with Moore and believes his experience and proven goal-scoring record will be key in their quest for success in the EFL Championship.
Kieffer Moore, with his wealth of experience in both European leagues and the Premier League, will now bring his expertise to Wrexham AFC, following his signing from Sheffield United. Moore, having scored over 60 goals in the Championship and representing Wales in international competitions, is ready to make a substantial impact on Wrexham's first season back in the EFL Championship since 1982.
