Bielefeld Inks Defender Handwerker: New Blood for the 2. Bundesliga Title Race

Defensive player Handwerker signs for Arminia Bielefeld - Reinforcement for Arminia Bielefeld's defence is on the way.

Ready for some fresh defensive blood in the upcoming 2. Bundesliga season? So are the folks over at Arminia Bielefeld! They've snagged Tim Handwerker, a 27-year-old left-back on a roll, and we're hyped about it!

The former SSV Jahn Regensburg player has joined Arminia Bielefeld on a two-year deal, kicking off on July 1st, 2025.

"With Tim on board, we now have a solid left flank to bolster our squad," enthused Michael Mutzel, the sporting director for Arminia Bielefeld. "His signing fits perfectly with our playing style and offers the coaching staff more tactical freedom in defense."

Handwerker has quite the 2. Bundesliga résumé. He's played a whopping 129 matches, with his previous stints primarily at 1. FC Nürnberg. During his time there, he notched five goals and assisted nine more. He also managed 11 appearances in the Bundesliga with 1. FC Köln back in the 2017/18 season. Most recently, he represented SSV Jahn Regensburg, tallying 15 appearances and contributing two assists.

According to the club, Handwerker is eager to join the vibrant atmosphere at Arminia Bielefeld, make his mark on the pitch, and help the team soar in the league.
