The Hudson Valley in New York is set to welcome a new addition to its scenic landscape with the upcoming Storm King Golf Club. Named after a nearby mountain, this 63-acre golf course is the brainchild of software executive David Gang, who aims to reimagine golf and challenge convention.

Located approximately 56 miles from Manhattan and minutes from West Point, Storm King Golf Club offers a unique, wild-looking, choose-your-own-adventure playground for golfers. The facility boasts 40 distinct hole configurations, five different 9-hole routing options, and a 19-hole par 3 layout, providing a diverse and engaging golfing experience.

David Gang's personal connection to adaptive golf is evident in the club's mission-driven approach. His son Matthew, who has Down Syndrome, is a competitive golfer, and this personal experience has inspired a commitment to regular programming for adaptive golfers, wounded veterans, first responders, and junior golfers at the club.

Storm King Golf Club is committed to minimising its environmental impact. GPS-guided sprayers and drone applications are used for precise turf care, while 18 Husqvarna automowers maintain the fairways and surrounds with zero emissions. The club also uses electric triplex and walk-behind mowers to keep the greens tournament ready.

Traditional tee times are a thing of the past at Storm King Golf Club. Instead, entire days are "rented out" to corporate groups, charities, businesses, friend groups, or special events. This innovative approach allows golfers to "own" the course for 2-4 days, creating a truly unique and personalised golfing experience.

A forthcoming mobile app will provide maps of the property and guidance for golfers at Storm King Golf Club. Access to the facility is limited to a maximum of 48 players per day, ensuring an intimate and exclusive experience for all.

The club operates as a private, invitation-only club in partnership with the Hudson Valley Golf Foundation and is managed by Troon. The organization involved alongside David Gang in managing Storm King Golf Club is not mentioned in the provided search results.

Storm King Golf Club demonstrates that world-class golf can thrive with a dramatically lighter environmental footprint.
