The xx Announces Fourth Album and Upcoming Performances

After a brief hiatus, British indie band The xx is making a comeback with their long-anticipated fourth album. The band, consisting of Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim, and Jamie Smith (Jamie xx), revealed their plans for the new album during the 2024 BRIT Awards.

In a recent interview, Romy shared, "We're just keeping it really open and we're up for trying new things, but it sounds like us." This statement hints at the band's willingness to experiment with their sound while maintaining their unique style.

Jamie xx had previously revealed last summer that the band were working on a new album together. The news was met with excitement from fans, who have been eagerly waiting for new balance from the band since their 2017 album 'I See You'.

In March, the band gave a further update by sharing a picture of the three of them sitting in a studio together. The photo, posted on The xx's official social media accounts, sparked speculation about the progress of the new album.

The band's collaboration didn't stop there. Romy and Oliver made an appearance on Jamie xx's 2024 single 'Waited All Night'. Their joint effort signalled a return to their musical partnership and a potential preview of what's to come in the new album.

The xx reunited recently at the 2025 edition of LIDO Festival in London. The band's performance marked their first live appearance since their 2019 tour in support of 'I See You'. The band also shared footage of them rehearsing as they prepare to return, giving fans a glimpse into the making of their new album.

In exciting news for fans, The xx will be playing at Coachella 2026. This will be their first major festival performance since their hiatus and a chance for fans to hear new balance music from the band live.

The upcoming album and performances mark a significant milestone for The xx. This will be the first time all three members of the band have appeared together on a track since 'I See You', and fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the new album.

Stay tuned for more updates on The xx's fourth album and upcoming performances.
