71st Balzhofen Pentecost Music Festival Preview

Music enthusiasts attending the 71st Balzhofen Pentecost Music Festival, one of the largest tent music festivals in the region, can anticipate an exciting lineup. The festival, organized by the "Harmony" Balzhofen music club, takes place from June 7th to 10th at the festival grounds in Buhl-Balzhofen's center.

The highlight of the festival is scheduled for Sunday evening, as the Bavarian band 'Blechpfiff' makes its debut. Bernd Lienhart, the "Harmony" Balzhofen chairman, promises a remarkable concert. The festival aims to provide high-quality brass music every year, according to Lienhart. For the 2025 festival, they have purposefully secured a 13-piece band, a full formation that includes woodwind players, in contrast to the previous years' purely brass ensembles.

The Blechpfiff band hails from the Bavarian highlands, surrounding Murnau. Lienhart explains that the name "Blechpfiff" represents the added clarinets to the brass section. The band's repertoire includes a blend of Bavarian, Bohemian, and modern brass music. Information about advance ticket sales for their concert can be found on the club's homepage.

In addition to the main event, the festival also offers culinary delights. For several years, the "Harmony" has been serving gourmet dishes alongside standard fare. Lienhart announced a special dish for the Blechpfiff concert: Weißwurst goulash with pretzel dumplings and a sauce made from white beer and sweet mustard.

Other highlights of the festival include the barrel tapping ceremony by Zwetschgenqueen Alexandra on Saturday at 8 pm, followed by the Pentecost Rock with the first appearance of "Radiocast" in Balzhofen. The Dixie and Jazz brunch on Sunday morning will feature the "Chickens Jazzband" for the first time, while the Polka and Stimmung evening will be hosted by "Polka satt".

Several brass bands from the region will also perform, providing good entertainment throughout the festival. These include Balzhofen, Buhlertaler and Grossweirer musicians, as well as music associations from Ottersdorf, Lautenbach, Vimbuch, and the Himbeer-Musikanten from Unzhurst. The men's choir 'Sangerlust' from Kartung will lead the choir part during the tent service on Pentecost Monday.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information, visitors are advised to check the official festival website or contact local event organizers directly.
