In the picturesque Vohenstrauß region, a series of noteworthy events have taken place.

Firstly, the Pfreimd river, following the Mero oil spill in Pfrentsch, has shown no signs of pollution. This is a relief for the local community and the wildlife that call the river home.

In other news, the local derby between SV Poppenreuth II and TSV Waldershof II was abruptly halted after 17 minutes due to a serious injury to a Poppenreuth player. The match has yet to be rescheduled.

The Kreisfischereiverein 1881 Vohenstrauß, a local fishing association, has been in the spotlight recently. The current chairman, Michael Claus, is serving in a provisional capacity. Unfortunately, the association is currently without a permanent chairman. The association's financial matters are managed by Joachim Gesierich, while Richard Koller handles the written affairs.

The association's efforts to maintain and grow the fish population are evident. Last year, they invested 8400 euros in fish stocking. Members with 20 years of service include Markus Maier (Vohenstrauß), Fabian Putzer, and Marco Rappl (Moosbach). Those with 30 years of membership include Ulrich Dobner, Werner Duschner, Daniel Keim, Norbert Marko, Karl-Heinz Forster, Edwin Mathy (all from Waidhaus), Christian Enderlein and Peter Grosser (both from Vohenstrauß), Johann Seibert (Eslarn), and Thomas Troidl (Waldthurn).

The association's advisory board consists of Tim Gesierich, Tobias Randhartinger, Otto Gallitzendoerfer, Josef Greber, Jochen Gruenthaler, Emmerich Sterbling, and Ludwig Groetsch as a substitute member. The youth leader is Johann Kellner.

The association currently boasts 303 adult and 17 junior members. New members include Magdalena Greber (Weiden), Josef Reger (Vohenstrauß), and Mario Baier (Pleystein) for adults, and Jakob Kreisl, Jonas and Jakob Reger, and Anton Peiker for the juniors.

Unfortunately, there have been some concerning incidents. A toddler wandered out of an apartment door in an unknown location, and a man was observed masturbating at Steinberger Lake. Police are urgently seeking witnesses, especially four children who may have seen the incident.

On a more positive note, a jubilee fishing event will take place on June 30th to celebrate the 900th anniversary of the city. Additionally, a passenger train in Upper Bavaria was unable to release its passengers, but thankfully, no major incidents occurred.

Lastly, two 28-year-old professional boxers suffered severe injuries and later died at an event in Tokyo, Japan. Our thoughts are with their families and loved ones during this difficult time.

In auditing matters, Werner Bank and Helmut Baeumler are responsible for ensuring the association's finances are in order. Joachim Gesierich recently praised the contributions of the retiring Dittmann.

The "Border Experience" marathon bike tour from Pirk saw 1355 cyclists cover 173,640 kilometers in Germany and the Czech Republic. However, the event was overshadowed by a prank involving nails on the track.

Georg Schraml (Waldthurn) and Ernst Schubert (Vohenstrauß) have been members for 50 years, a testament to their dedication to the association.

During the "Border Experience" marathon bike tour from Pirk, a prank involving nails on the track caused some trouble for the cyclists.

In a different setting, at a sports event in Tokyo, Japan, two professional boxers suffered severe injuries and later lost their lives, leaving their families and loved ones in grief.
