Regensburg Unveils Ambitious Solar Energy Zone in Ostenviertel District

Regensburg has revealed plans for a new energy zone in the Ostenviertel district. The draft zoning plan (Bebauungsplan No. 290) and an updated land-use amendment are now open for public review. Residents can examine the proposals online or in person before sharing their feedback.

The city has published a draft zoning plan for the Regensburg East Energy Zone. This area, located north of Kremser Straße, east of Siemensstraße, and south of Straubinger Straße, will focus on renewable energy. Specifically, the zone is designated for solar power facilities.

Alongside the zoning plan, the 88th amendment to the land-use plan has also been approved for review. Both documents, including their justifications and environmental assessments, are available for inspection. The public can access them online from January 7, 2026, to February 6, 2026, at www.regensburg.de/participation-zoning-land-use-plan. For those preferring an in-person visit, the plans are displayed at the Urban Planning Office in the New Town Hall. The office is located at D. Martin Luther Straße 3, Room 2.26. Opening hours are Monday to Wednesday, 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM; Thursday, 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM; and Friday, 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM.

The review period runs until February 6, 2026. Residents can submit comments during this time. The city will consider all feedback before finalising the plans for the energy zone.
