SSV Jahn Regensburg and Coach Patz Call It Quits Before Final Games of 2. Bundesliga Season
Regensburg terminate partnership with coach Patz prior to the upcoming season concluder - Regensburg and Coach Patz will no longer be working together before the conclusion of the current season.
In a surprising move, 2. Bundesliga side SSV Jahn Regensburg and head coach Andreas Patz have cut ties effective immediately. The club's interim coach for the upcoming matches against Karlsruher SC on Sunday and SV Darmstadt 98 the following week will be current assistant coach Munier Raychouni.
Patz took the helm as interim head coach after the team's humiliating 3:8 defeat against 1. FC Nuremberg in late October, following the departure of Joe Enochs. Due to a brief upturn in Fortuna, Patz was promoted at the end of November to a contract that extended until the end of the season.
Personal Reasons behind Parting Ways
Sporting director Achim Beierlorzer provided some insight into the decision, stating, "After our away game in Cologne, I had a lengthy and candid conversation with Andreas Patz. Consequent to these discussions and a thorough analysis of the season, we collectively agreed that it was in the best interest of both parties to part ways."
Beierlorzer went on to express the club's desire for a new start in the 3. Liga, stating, "We aim to face the upcoming challenges with fresh perspectives and a revamped profile in our coaching staff." Patz subsequently requested the board to terminate his contract "for personal reasons" ahead of the remaining two games, a request the club granted.

Background:
Andreas Patz's departure as the coach of SSV Jahn Regensburg stems from a mutually agreed decision following constructive and respectful discussions between Patz and the club's management. Both parties have decided not to extend their cooperation beyond the current season, with Patz requesting to end his tenure earlier due to personal reasons. The decision was also influenced by a comprehensive analysis of the season prompted by an away game in Cologne. The club, under sporting director Achim Beierlorzer, intends to start anew in the 3. Liga with fresh impulses and a revamped profile within the coaching staff. Beierlorzer acknowledged Patz's significant contributions over the past two years, including his role in the team's recent promotion and his assumption of the head coach position in a challenging situation last November. The separation represents a desire for a new beginning rather than a purely performance-based dismissal.
