In the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army is engaged in a fierce battle against the militant group Hamas. The exact number of casualties on both sides cannot be independently verified at this time.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have been taking measures to ensure the safety of civilians caught in the conflict. Residents of Gaza City have been instructed to evacuate southward via Al-Rashid Street, as Salah al-Din Street was closed for southbound traffic as part of military operations around September 19, 2025.

Before the intensified military action, approximately one million residents and internally displaced persons lived in the city of Gaza. Since the Israeli ground offensive began, over 480,000 Palestinians have fled the city, leaving Al-Rashid Street along the coast to the south as the only exit route. The Israeli army reported that 450,000 had fled the city as of Thursday evening.

Unfortunately, the temporary second escape route from the city to the south of the Gaza Strip was closed by the Israeli army. Many Palestinians fleeing the conflict are facing numerous challenges, including being unable to transport their few belongings, exhaustion, and illness. They also express distrust in Israeli assurances of safety in the so-called humanitarian zones in the south.

The Israeli army has reported success in securing weapons and deactivating explosive devices during the attacks. In addition, observation posts belonging to terrorist organizations have been destroyed.

The conflict in Gaza has taken a heavy toll, with over 65,000 deaths since it began nearly two years ago. It is important to note that the Hamas, along with other extremist groups, carried out mass killings in Israel on October 7, 2023, resulting in the deaths of around 1,200 people and the abduction of more than 250.

This latest round of violence in the Gaza Strip continues to cause significant displacement and hardship for its residents. The international community is urged to take action to bring an end to the conflict and ensure the safety and wellbeing of all those affected.
