Thorsten Hansen Steps Down from Krefeld Council, Paves Way for Greens' Reorganization
After a decade of dedicated service to the Krefeld council, Thorsten Hansen has announced that he will be relinquishing his seat and will not be a part of the council in the next term. Hansen, who has found great joy in council work for the past 11 years, has been a key figure in the Green faction, serving as a prominent member of the leadership duo with Julia Müller.
In a heartfelt statement, Hansen expressed that it is the right time for him to pass on the responsibility. He will, however, continue his focus on the work in the district council West for the next five years.
The Greens, who have been a significant force in the Krefeld council, will be in opposition in the new council. Despite this change, they remain committed to their core principles. The party will continue to prioritize climate and environmental protection, transport transition, urban development, and strong social policy in the new Krefeld council.
With six members in the new council, effective from November 2025, the Greens are set to reorganize themselves. While the name of the new chairman of the Green faction in the city council of Krefeld starting November 2025 is not available at this time, it is clear that the Greens will be led by a strong and dedicated team. Julia Müller and Ludwig will serve as the new chairs of the Greens in the Krefeld council.
Thorsten Hansen, in his final act as a member of the Green faction, will assume his mandate in the new district council West. As he steps down from his role, he leaves behind a legacy of dedication, hard work, and a deep commitment to the betterment of Krefeld.
In this transition, the Greens remain steadfast in their mission to create a sustainable, equitable, and vibrant Krefeld for all its residents. As they reorganize and prepare for their role in opposition, they look forward to continuing to make a positive impact in the city they love.
