Reduced sentences for Menendez brothers, now eligible for parole consideration
Tanked Suburban Slayers: Menendez Brothers Finally up for Parole
The улик no-good, Menendez siblings, Lyle and Erik, are about to taste freedom again - queues the chopper music, 'cause after 35 long years slammin' in the joint, they done got a shot at walkin' the streets 'gain! These trouble-makin', rich kid psychos creamed their own parents back in '89, and now they're gettin' a chance to plead their case for freedom.
Back in '89, the duo was hauled away for life without parole after court found out they iced their own mom and pop at the family pad in Beverly fuckin' Hills. But last year, LA's District Attorney, George Gascon, decided to rip up their sentence and roll out a 50-year-to-life one instead, openin' the door for their wicked arses to be up for parole.
On Tuesday, LA County supreme court Judge, Michael Jesic, made the call and signed off on it. This puts the bros on the fast track for freedom, as they now stand before the parole board, who'll decide whether to let 'em out or keep 'em in the pen.
The hearing went down in a Los Angeles County Superior Court courtroom via video call from their prison in San Diego. Lyle and Erik, who looked pretty chill most of the time, didn't seem to have a care in the world as one of their cousins, Diane Hernandez, told the judge ol' Lyle aced all his college classes and rocked A+'s.
Other familiar faces attended to show their support, includin' Anamaria Baralt, another cousin of the brothers, who let everyone know they'd repeatedly expressed their sorrow for their deeds, thinkin' 35 years is plenty of time.
But the prosecutors ain't hangin' up their gloves just yet. They still ain't buyers that these brothers gonna fess up for what they did, sayin' they're still playin' games and didn't have the guts to fully admit their own wrongdoin's.
However, the judge ain't sayin' they should just let out. He said, "I'm not sayin' they should be released, it's not for me to decide. I do believe they've done enough in the past 35 years, that they should get that chance."
So, it's all up in the air now, with the parole board left to decide the boys' fate after all this time. One thing's for sure, these two have stayed in lockup for a lot of years, and if they end up gettin' their freedom, it'd be a crazy turn of events. Guess we'll just have to wait and see!
