Redoing Cinema Classics: Screenings of Cannes Festival 2025 Films Across France and Globally

Things are dimmed, the red carpet's been tucked away, but the prowess of the Cannes Film Festival echoes on as it revitalizes its signature June programming. The Official Selection and the parallel sections - Directors' Fortnight, Critics' Week, and ACID - make this a yearly extravaganza. In Paris, UGC (New Window) showcases over a dozen feature films from the Un Certain Regard section until June 3.

Meanwhile, the Directors' Fortnight showcases its choice from June 10, gracing 30 partner cinemas across France. Notable places include the Forum des images in Paris, Utopia in Bordeaux, Comoedia in Lyon, Alhambra in Marseille, Le Méliès in Saint-Étienne, and Le Concorde in La Roche-sur-Yon.

As for Critics' Week, its roster can be discovered both in France and beyond. Corsica hosts its short and feature films from June 3. In Paris, screenings at the Cinémathèque française kick off on June 4. Projections are set to happen throughout June, then resume in Martinique in autumn 2025. The films will then traverse Mexico, the Czech Republic, and Lebanon until 2026.

For ACID (Association for the Distribution of Independent Cinema), it's almost autumn before the nine films of the 2025 selection can be viewed. They'll be screened at the Louxor in Paris from September 18 to 22. October screenings can be found in Marseille (La Baleine, Les Variétés, and Le Gyptis), Lyon (Comoedia), and Nantes (Le Cinématographe).

It's worth noting that while the main festival outlines its schedule primarily for the main competition, Un Certain Regard, Out of Competition, and Midnight Screenings, information on the Directors' Fortnight, Critics' Week, and ACID sections is often missing from these sources. Traditionally, the Directors' Fortnight features innovative and brave films from emerging and seasoned directors, with screenings and Q&A sessions happening in theaters in and around Cannes. Critics’ Week focuses on first and second feature films, shining a spotlight on new talent. The ACID program showcases independent films throughout the festival, both in Cannes and in various French cities as part of a traveling showcase.

Furthermore, screenings for all three parallel sections typically occur daily between May 13 and May 24, with schedules published closer to the festival or on each section’s official website. ACID is known for its traveling film program in France and select international venues after the festival, but specific foreign dates and locations are not detailed in the main festival guide. For accurate and up-to-date daily schedules, including film timings and venues, consult each section’s official website or the Cannes Film Festival’s official screening guide, which may be updated closer to the festival dates.

French movies-and-tv will be showcased across France as part of the Directors' Fortnight, with screenings happening in various theaters such as the Forum des images in Paris, Utopia in Bordeaux, Comoedia in Lyon, Alhambra in Marseille, Le Méliès in Saint-Étienne, and Le Concorde in La Roche-sur-Yon. Meanwhile, the films of ACID (Association for the Distribution of Independent Cinema) will be screened in Paris at the Louxor from September 18 to 22, with October screenings in Marseille, Lyon, and Nantes.
