Rediscovering Past Fervor: Max Giermann Unearths Previous Interest - Rediscovering a Former Passion: Max Giermann Returns to His Old Interest
What's new with the hilarious, multi-talented Max Giermann ("Switch Reloaded")? He's picked up an old hobby - painting! After a break of almost 20 years, the 49-year-old comic genius is diving deep into the world of colors again. "I'm getting back in touch with my inner artist," Max announced to the Deutsche Presse-Agentur before his upcoming solo exhibition, which runs until August 10 at the Dresden gallery Holger John.
Curious fans can marvel at approximately 30 of Max's pieces, titled "Then paint, you stupid pig!" - a quote from the iconic Klaus Kinski, a frequent subject of Max's parodies. The display features a mix of graphics and acrylic paintings, including his largest work to date, an impressive 2.30-meter long canvas, tailor-made for the gallery.
Max's love for painting can be traced back to his childhood. "I grew up with art in a household where my parents were art teachers, and we had a studio in our basement," he shared. Naturally inclined towards painting, Max considered studying art, but acting took center stage instead. Now, with a newfound enthusiasm, he's eager to identify his unique artistic style, without seeking copycat approaches.
As a multifaceted artist, painting is just one of Max's many pursuits, though it has yet to become a primary source of income. "As an artist, I'm still learning, and I need to discover my own path," he admitted. To nurture this budding talent, Max carves out as much time as possible for painting, often finding himself in the studio late into the night.
Recent years have seen Max trade his cartoon drawings for paints. It's not the last creative genre he'll explore; in fact, he plans to delve into sculpting next, which he's all set to pursue as his next big project.
So, what drove this shift in his creative journey? Simply put, Max feels the urge to create again. "It's great to feel this pull back towards painting," he expressed, emotionally. "Painting has taken the place of my cartoon drawing." With his recent exhibitions, including one in Neustadt[3], Max showcases his devotion to art and promises an exciting artistic future!
