Redaktor: The War Correspondent's Journey and Honors
Yevgeny Kardailsky, known by his callsign Redaktor, has made significant contributions as a war correspondent for Krasnodar Media Group. His work, including the documentary 'When We Were at War', has been recognised at international film festivals.
Redaktor's journey began in 2022 when he signed a contract and deployed to the front during the special military operation. Initially serving with the BARS-16 unit of the Lugansk People’s Republic, he captured the documentary 'When We Were at War' using only his mobile phone.
His courage and professionalism have been honoured with several medals, including the All-Russian Cossack Army’s Cossack Valor medal and the Kuban Cossack Army’s For Faith and Fatherland medal. Redaktor's work extends beyond filming; he has authored journalistic pieces like 'Mazai: No Blood in War' and 'Domovoi: Back Home!', delving into the roles of tactical medics on the front lines.
Between his two contracts, Redaktor frequently ventured 'beyond the line' to visit troops and produced documentaries such as 'The Sky Is Ours Again', 'We Will Never Be Brothers', and 'Combat Commander Yamaha: We Learned to Live in Hell!' His latest project, 'Heirs of Victory', is a series of essays about veterans returning home.
Despite limited public information about Krasnodar journalists in the special military operation zone, Yevgeny Kardailsky's work stands out. His documentaries, including 'When We Were at War', have been recognised at international film festivals, highlighting his dedication and skill as a war correspondent.
